David Gertler is a software executive with over 35 years experience leading and growing cutting-edge technology companies specializing in software, hardware and professional services. David has transformed divisions of Fortune 500 companies, accelerated the growth of smaller tech companies and launched (and shutdown) a highly-acclaimed business networking startup. His background includes working as a crypto-mathematician and systems engineer in the Intel Community, senior executive roles in publicly traded technology companies, Chief Operating Officer of a privately held software company that sold for over $100MM and he serves on a number of boards of both private companies and non-profit organizations.
David earned his first two degrees from Rensselaer (BS in Mathematics and MS in Applied Mathematics), his second Master's from Johns Hopkins in Electrical Engineering and he graduated from the Wharton School, where he earned his MBA with distinction. David has earned many awards, including the Albert Fox Demers Medal from Rensselaer, “Manager of the Year” and “Inspiring Leadership” awards, and the Maryland Comptroller personally presented David with the William Donald Schaefer award in 2014 for inspiring K-12 students to explore careers in the STEM fields.
David lives in Ellicott City, Maryland with his wife. He founded and is the current Chairman of the Rensselaer Alumni Network (RAN); co-founded STEMulatingMinds, a STEM non-profit and he has also performed Stand-Up Comedy and performed in and directed three Improv Comedy Troupes. These days, you’ll find David on the PickleBall courts working on his drop-shots and playing in tournaments.
